Urbex – Sanatorium B

Abandoned sanatorium somewhere in Belgium. Built in 1903, this sanatorium lost in the woods has been abandoned since 2013. As a sanatorium, its primary function was to treat tuberculosis. Years later, it’s been converted in a rehabilitation center. During the 2000s, it was converted into a center for asylum seekers before being left abandoned. It’s still in a very good condition and there are rumours that it’s going to be sold.

Urbex – Beelitz Heilstätten

Abandoned sanatorium somewhere in Germany. This sanatorium is a well known place in the urbex community. This is a huge hospital with a lot of buildings. It’s been built in 1898 and has been used as a military hospital during World War  1. Adolf Hitler spent some times there when he was wounded at the leg during the battle of the Somme. After 1945, it became a Soviet military hospital. The atmosphere of this place is incredible, and the site is so huge that one could spend at least three days to see everything. Unfortunately, I only had one day there, so I missed a lot of things. I’ll definitely have to come back !

Urbex - Hospice des vieillards

Urbex – Hospice des vieillards

Abandoned hospice somewhere in Belgium. This old people home was build in the middle of the 19th century and is part of an hospital. It is no longer in use and most of it has already been demolished. All that is left of it is a few offices, a few patient rooms and the old chapel. There are plans in the future to build new buildings for the actual hospital, so it will be demolished soon. All in all, it was a very nice exploration.
