About

My name is Yannick Vandermolen. I studied graphic design at the ERG (école de recherche graphique) in Brussels. Afterwards, I took a training in computer graphics followed by studies in webdesign.  I work mainly as a freelance webdesigner. I’ve always been interested in photography and most particularly in urbex (urban exploration). I’ve done a few exhibitions and have already won some prizes with my pictures.

My photographic work focus primarily on abandoned places. The themes discussed in my works are the dereliction, the forgetfulness and the memory. The aesthetic side prevails on the documentary side. My vision of these places could be described as romantic, filled with melancholy and feelings. The atmospheres tell stories. Every wall, every little object left behind is more significant than ever, giving clues about the life that filled this place in the past. I try to highlight the personality of each place through my photographs, particularly by the use of colours and light.

If you’re interested in buying prints of my works, you can contact me for the prices and size. All my pictures are signed and numbered.
