Abandoned crystal glassware manufacturer somewhere in Belgium. This factory was one of the most famous industry of Belgium, and a very old one too. Its story begins in 1826 when the factory is founded on the site of an ancient cistercian abbey. Its reputation increases over decades until the 1970, where it begins to decline. There’s an old and a newer part. The older one has been stopped for a long time now, and the newer one has just ceased its activities recently.
Urbex – Industrial
Urban exploration of industrial places.
Urbex -Lavoir Carbonisage D.
Abandoned wool factory somewhere in Belgium. This factory was used to wash the wool and prepare it through a carbonisation process. I don’t know much about this place. I think it must have been built in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s been abandoned about 25 years ago, and there are plans to renovate it into lofts, well at least back in 2009. Five years later, the renovation doesn’t seem to have gone far…
Urbex – Grands Moulins de Paris
Abandoned industrial flour mill somewhere in France. This is a very impressive building built in the 20’s. This industrial flour mill has ceased its activities in 1989 and is now in a really bad state, making it a very dangerous place. On many levels the floor has collapsed leaving just a concrete skeleton. There are some rumours the place should be renovated, but who knows when…
Urbex – Bärenquell Brauerei
I recently spent a few days in Germany, and this is one of the places that I’ve explored there. The Bärenquell Brauerei is an abandoned Brewery. From what I know, it opened its doors in the years 1880 and was closed in 1994. This was a huge site with many buildings and the place is heavily vandalized. Nevertheless, it was still a very nice exploration to do.
Urbex – Usine Comet
Abandoned factory somewhere in Belgium. I’m not really sure what this factory was producing. I’ve searched some information about it, and from what I’ve found, I think it was producing beer kegs. It was in a really bad state, but all in all, it was still a very interesting exploration. I don’t know what will happen to this factory, but it’s in the process of being cleaned, and some of the buildings have already been demolished. The office building was very interesting, with a very luxury director’s office. Let’s hope they will at least keep this building !
Urbex – Triage-lavoir P.
Abandoned coal washing facility somewhere in Belgium. This was a huge place to explore. One could easily imagine being lost in some mythological maze with a lot of stairs. The place has been abandoned since the 70’s when the coal mine closed its doors. In 2005, the government began rehabilitation works which cost hundreds of millions euros. Like many things in Belgium and for some unknown reasons, the works have been stopped. The only thing that proves the place was being rehabilitated is the thousands of windows that have been put there. The place is now left to rot with its thousands of new broken windows…
Urbex – Centrale IM
Abandoned powerplant somewhere in Belgium. This powerplant is a well known urbex place. It is a very impressive location with a wonderful cooling tower next to it. This is a real industrial labyrinth, and one can spend hours in it. It has two old turbines and a newer one, so this powerplant has two control room. The older one, controlling the two old turbines, is an absolute beauty, that has unfortunately been heavily vandalized. This is a very dangerous place, mostly because copper thieves are very active in it, the kind of people you don’t really want to meet…
Urbex – Usine Shelt
An abandoned factory somewhere in Belgium. This was a steel rolling mill. The main hall is really impressive with a width of 30m and a length of about 500m. It is a really quiet and peaceful place with a lot of vegetation. There’s a water basin which looks like an very big mirror. A very nice urbex location, even though the place is empty.
Urbex – Brasserie B
Abandoned brewery somewhere in Belgium. Unfortunately, there was not much to see. This old brewery is now the playground of air soft players. At a time I think it was in the process of being renovated, but it’s seems to be stopped right now.
Urbex – PRB
This is an abandoned powder and ammunition factory somewhere in Belgium. The site was really huge. There were some buildings with not much left in it, but in the woods surrounding the buildings, which are parts of the site, there were still places were I guess they were doing tests.
