Abandoned train repair shop somewhere in Belgium. I had this place on my todo list for some time already, but I always had another place to go explore. I’ve finally decided to go there and take a look at it, or more exactly, it was on my way home that day…
The place has been built around 1874 and was used for the repair and maintenance of locomotives and wagons. It’s been eventually abandoned around 2002, and it consists of a few big empty industrial halls. The maintenance and repair is now done somewhere else. There is not much left to see, but long industrial halls have always attracted me, there’s just something fascinating about them. There were plans for renovating the place and making social housing and cultural activities out of it, but I don’t know if it will happen. One of the hall has already been partially renovated, but the new windows are now broken, quite a bad sign for them. I assume that the renovation plan has stopped at least for the moment. Let’s just hope that they’ll start the renovation again because these old industrial buildings are beautiful ! All in all, a nice little exploration though there was not much left to see…
